the cuddles, the endless questions, the silly games. We tell ourselves there will be a better time to document them — when life feels less exhausting, less busy, less chaotic. But childhood doesn't wait, and neither does parenthood. We grow into our roles one ordinary day at a time, often without noticing just how much is changing.
Parenthood and family life shape us in profound ways, yet the everyday slips by so quickly. You never know which moments you'll remember most, or what your children will carry with them from their childhood.
Photography has a unique power to hold on to what is fleeting — the memories, the feelings, the small details that make up a life. It allows them to stay close to our hearts, where they belong.
Hi, I'm Sylvia
a photographer, a mum of two, and a cinema lover.
I believe the world is as we see it. You can be in the most beautiful surroundings and still feel disconnected. Or you can spend another evening in the same place and truly admire it — perhaps watching the shadows cast on the wall by the setting sun, or the changing colours of the sky.
The camera, just like in films, allows me to focus on what’s important and what’s beautiful. I look for authentic and natural pictures. I look for the details that are easily forgotten, yet so worth remembering.
I grew up in the Polish countryside, surrounded by the natural beauty of forests and flowery meadows. I miss the morning fog that brings uncertainty and coziness at the very same time.
After years spent in Cracow, where I studied linguistics and history, I moved to Melbourne with my dear husband. Having my first daughter inspired me to bring my old passion for photography back to life. I no longer had time to read books, and rarely to watch movies, but I could find a few spare minutes to pick up my camera — and so I did.
